In the earlier days, the Japanese used cast iron pots only to boil water because they could endure being placed on open fire. Today, the pots are glazed on the inside, so they can be used for making tea without becoming rusty.

This type of teapot is generally small because in Japan, tea leaves are used several times and the Japanese make tea more often than we do in Denmark. The teapots are available in different designs, colours and sizes. The leaves are placed directly in the pot. You then add water and let the tea steep. When the tea is ready, you empty the tea pot and pour new water over the same leaves. A tea strainer is included with all our teapots, which means that you can also make tea the usual way.

This beautiful teapot from Bredemeijer can contain 1,2 litre and come with a tea filter inside.
